The layout of the Original Soft Shell further reduces thickness by employing a side-by-side configuration. Instead of overlapping cards, two stacks are created which drastically reduces the overall thickness of a full wallet.

The footprint is a bit larger, but fits in both front and back pockets easily. Slots stretch and rebound so multiple cards can be placed in each one unlike the Tyvek version.

After an extensive search to find an ultra durable yet thin material, I tracked down a technical fabric mill capable of producing exactly what I was after. They create materials for such companies as The North Face®, Under Armour®, and even Gore®... the makers of Gore-Tex®. In order to fund the huge minimum quantity required to produce it, the Kickstarter community helped raise over $150k and the Soft Shell was born.

Originally created for motorcycle wear, the material was subjected to 70mph crash tests using real pavement during development. Its strength is derived by blending super-strong synthetics together at ultra-high weave densities. Like high thread count sheets, this stuff feels amazing.

*Note that this model cannot be double-folded due to a thin reinforcement insert.
